Battlefield 2042 Crossplay Confirmed

We finally have information about Battlefield 2042 crossplay as it was confirmed today via Twitter by the Lead Community Manager at EA Studios:

We're testing it as a part of the Closed Technical Playtest, now happening in August.

PC, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5 can all play together (with opt out for PC and Console folks)

PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC owners will be able to play Battlefield 2042 together via crossplay and its good news to friends that own different consoles. Now, there was additional information stating that new gen crossplay is possible only with new gen hardware. Which means that PS4 and Xbox One owners cannot play with PS5 and Xbox Series X owners. This is due to the fact that Battlefield 2042 has different number of players on new gen vs old gen.

128 players can play Battlefield 2042 on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC, while only 64 players can play on PS4 and Xbox One. Therefore PS5 owners will not be able to play with PS4 owners and same goes for Xbox Series X and Xbox One.

Battlefield 2042 Crossplatform Progression

It looks like Battlefield 2042 will allow owners of the game progress via different platforms. For example, if you own Battlefield 2042 on PS5, the things you purchased and your progression will carry over to the Xbox Series X version and PC version if you decide to get those versions of the game as well.
